Machine conformity checks

We support companies in protecting the safety of their people when operating machinery.

These are the inspections necessary to assess the suitability and conformity of use during the work of any machine, apparatus, tool or installation within a production process.

SIGE offers support and technical assistance in the verification of machines in service for the protection of health and safety in the workplace.

The law in fact requires that the employer:

  • Provide workers with machines that comply with laws and regulations
  • Take appropriate technical and organisational measures to minimise the risks associated with their use
  • Take the necessary measures to ensure that the workplace and the position of workers during the use of equipment meet safety requirements and comply with ergonomic principles
  • Update the preventive measures necessary for occupational health and safety
  • Provide workers with procedures for the safe use of work equipment and machinery and provide adequate education, information and training on activities involving the use of machinery and equipment

Main activities

Machinery risk assessment - When purchasing machinery, it is necessary to carry out a risk assessment of the equipment with respect to:

  • The conditions and characteristics of the work to be done
  • Risks in the workplace
  • Risks associated with the use of equipment
  • Risks arising from interference with other machinery already in use

In particular, it is useful to assess the risk of an accident occurring and, consequently, to evaluate and take appropriate safety measures to avoid or limit the event, safeguarding the safety and health of the workers involved in the activity.

When a piece of equipment bears the CE mark, an initial risk assessment has already been carried out and therefore it is necessary to consider the limits of use and operation of the equipment as well as to estimate the possibility of accidents arising from the working environment and possible interaction with other machinery already present in the workplace.

The assessment process is complex and needs to be carried out by people with specific knowledge: this is why it is useful to be supported by a team of professionals, considering the correct application of all legal provisions. SIGE is a valuable partner that offers its support in a precise, up-to-date and reliable manner.

Support for CE Certification of Machinery and Equipment - The CE mark is intended to guarantee the safety of the machinery that displays it. This means that the equipment must meet specific essential health and safety requirements. In particular, the machine must be:

  • Built according to certain parameters
  • Marked and recognisable
  • Accompanied by accompanying documentation (instruction manual and maintenance record)
  • Guaranteed by the manufacturer with the declaration of conformity

Only if specific parameters are met can the equipment receive and display the CE mark.

SIGE offers assistance and support for the CE certification process, acting as a point of reference for the correct application of the regulations in force and for all verifications necessary for compliance.

Periodic Checks and Inspections - SIGE offers support in maintaining machine compliance through periodic checks and inspections of machinery and equipment, forklifts and lifting machinery, as well as the correct use of PPE by personnel.
