Chemical Analysis in Workplaces
Current legislation on the protection of health and safety in the workplace prescribes the employer's obligation to identify, assess and monitor environmental factors of a chemical, physical and biological nature that derive from production activity and that may damage the health of exposed workers.
Many workers, due to the nature of their profession, are potentially exposed to these risks, but it is useful to remember that even in seemingly protected environments such as offices, exposure to extremely volatile chemicals or contact with articles containing harmful substances can occur.
SIGE supports companies in complying with regulatory requirements, verifying that working environments meet safety standards.
Our technicians are specialised to carry out:
- Sampling of chemical, physical and bacteriological agents in the workplace
- Chemical/physical/instrumental analyses
for the assessment of air pollution levels in areas where workers work in the performance of their duties. In particular, the following are identified:
- The possible presence of pollutants
- Their concentration in the various environments that define the workplace
- How concentration varies over time, through regular monitoring
In this way, it is possible to compare the readings with the threshold values defined in the regulations and to predict acute intoxication or chronic exposure, conditions that can lead to pathologies which are harmful to workers' health.
Sampling and analysis methods scrupulously comply with the methods envisaged by the regulations in force and envisage both fixed station and mobile station measurements. Air quality control is performed directly on the operators with the aid of personal samplers (active and passive) and in the work environment at a fixed location with specific instruments and methods.
In this way, our technicians are able to measure the level of exposure of workers to various pollutants in the performance of their duties to verify compliance with the legal limits of the same with particular attention to values referring to substances that may pose a danger to public and workers' health.
All sampling media are handled and stored to preserve their integrity and safeguard the representativeness of the sample in order to obtain accurate and reliable results.
